Think Positive!

Why do some parents or grandparents think it’s okay to smash a child’s dreams?  Okay. . maybe that is a bit harsh, but that sure was how it looked.

When a child says they want to be a lawyer when they grow up, the response should not be “You will never afford College!” “Law school is alot of work and you aren’t good at hard work!” “You won’t make it as a lawyer!”  Things like this apply to all dreams of a child and SHOULD NEVER, EVER, be said to a child.

I firmly believe what my parents and grandparents always told me.  They said I could be whatever I wanted.  They never told me I couldn’t do it.  Even if I did fail at something, they never laughed at me or harassed me for it.  They gave me encouragement to try again, or to try something new.  This is what today’s children need!  Encourage them to be whatever they want.  If you work hard enough, you really can accomplish anything!  You just have to have the want and the drive!

And for all those parents out there, who have grown children, and the choose to be negative about how their grown children’s lives have turned out, KNOCK IT OFF!  It’s not helping.  No matter how many mean and negative things you say to them, or even worse, to their other family members, they aren’t going to magically change because you want them to.  They have to do it for themselves.  Instead of constantly belittling them, encourage them also!  Reinforce the good and positive things they do.

Anyway, just a small rant for this morning.  I have to get ready for work now.

Peace Out,

Kittie
