Crazy Drivers

Yesterday, Jamie and I were on our way home from our friends softball game.  We were at a 4 way stop in a construction area.  We waited our turn, and then went.  We were turning left, onto US 23.  As we turned the person to the right of us started going straight and almost hit the side of us.  It was a 20 something guy in a little red car.  Now he was pissed and was riding our ass.  Jamie tapped the breaks a bit, and the kid backed off.

When we got up to the light near the shell gas station, the jerk pulled up beside us and started yelling.  Lots of curse words, we laughed, said a few back and continued on.  He pulled back into the lane behind us.  I told Jamie to turn into the Police Station, mainly because I just didn’t want this freak following us home.

So we turned in the Police Station, and turned around and got back on the road.  A Cop pulled our right behind us.  We were stopped at the light on 3rd, and the jerk in the red car was at the stop light on 2nd in the turn lane.  Our light turned green and the kid was still waiting to turn so we honked and waved as we went by.

The kid started to turn right as 2 kids on bikes came into the intersection and he had to slam on his breaks.  The Cop that was following us. . . got in the turn lane and followed the kid in the red car!

Now, I could care less if the kid got pulled over, because you know the moment he saw that cop on his tail, he probably got pissed, thought we called the cops on him, and probably panicked for quite some time.  So to me it made it all worth it.

The point of this is, sometimes you don’t have to react to road rage.  People with get what they deserve.  :)

George Carlin Dies

Yup, it’s true.  One of the funniest comedians around has died.  I think one of the reasons I liked George Carlin, was because he seemed so honest while doing his comedy.  He wasn’t afraid to make a joke about anything, from race, to religion, everyone and everything was an equal target.  He was only 71 years old, but the article said he had heart problems, and had had them for a long time.

One of his popular skits was the Seven words you can’t say skit.  Check it out on youtube if you haven’t seen it.  My favorite is Religion is Bullshit.  So another funny comedian is gone.  I can’t think of anyone out there that really compares to George Carlin.

Peace Out

Grow up and be a Man!

So a little over a year ago, a very good friend of my husband and I finally managed to get a girlfriend.  He was 28 at the time, she was 22 (pretty sure).  This girl was a very shy girl, and at first we didn’t know what to think of her.  She didn’t say much . . . . so it was hard to determine how you felt about her.

We decided to go on a camping trip to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.  We invited our buddy and his girlfriend.  Over the 3 day trip we definitely got to know her a bit better, and we really liked her.  They seemed like a great couple, and we thought that the relationship could last a long time.

A few months after the trip, our friend lost his job.  He and his girlfriend worked at the same place.  She decided to move in with him and help him get back on his feet until he got a better job.  Unfortunately, this is when everything in his life started going backwards. (enough of this he and she stuff, their names are Greg, and Jessi).  Greg didn’t go forward in life and find a better job, he reverted and went back to working midnights at a gas station.  Yes, it’s better then no job, and it would have been great if he continued to look for work. . . but he didn’t.

Jessi finds out she is pregnant.  When she tells Greg, he barely reacts.  He doesn’t get excited, he doesn’t comfort her, he basically just says “um okay.”  So of course, Jessi is very upset by this (anyone in their right mind would be).  About two weeks later, she decides she wants to move back in with her mom.  When she tells Greg, his reaction again is, “um okay”. He doesn’t try to talk her into staying, doesn’t even care, in fact he came over to our house to hang out and while he was gone she packed all her stuff and left.

They didn’t talk for a long time after that.  Greg made little to no effort to go and talk with her.  And she had already been treated so badly, she didn’t want to go talk to him.

He eventually did go and see her, but he didn’t make anything better.  He played it like an idiot and didn’t ask her anything about the baby.  He then bought her a playpen changing table thing, because I told him to.  He didn’t even give it to her in person.  He dumped it off at her work.

This baby boy is due on July 3rd.  Greg has no nursery ready, hasn’t done anything to prepare to be a father, and still doesn’t have much contact with Jessi.  This is a person I knew for years, and my husband and I both thought he was a good person.  He sure proved us wrong.  He is a lazy, good for nothing, deadbeat.  I don’t think he even realizes that we dont’ talk to him anymore.

I feel so bad for his parents.  They are wonderful people, in fact all his family are wonderful, and they are all trying to be very supportive of Jessi.  They have already done a lot for her, and Greg doesn’t even seem to care.  He didn’t even call his dad on Father’s day.  He works Midnights, and thinks that makes it so he has no time to do anything.  He works 32 hours a week most weeks . . . I mean come on.

Anyway, I just had to rant about that a bit.  Had to get it out of my system.  I hope when the baby is born something snaps in Gregs mind and he grows up. . but I doubt it.

Global Warming!

This is just a short post to say that I have proof that Global Warming exists!  Yes, you read that right!  PROOF!! Ready.  Today is June 18th, 2008, and its 8:26am.  I am currently located in Alpena, Michigan which is just above the 45th Parallel.  The temperature outside, right now is . . . . 51 degrees Fahrenheit.  That’s right 51 degrees outside.  Summer official starts in two days.  The high for tomorrow is 62.

So there you have it!  Global Warming. . . wait. . if it’s Global Warming. . . Shouldn’t it be getting warmer?

And on a side note, we switched Shelby’s food, and she is doing much better!

Shelby isn’t feeling Good

Well, Shelby is sick.  She has thrown up a few times in the past week, and today she pooped Green.  Now she has also been eating a lot of grass, which could turn her poo green.  And most of the times she vomited it was either full of grass, or it was foamy.  She also coughed up foam yesterday.

She is not lethargic, she is acting like nothing hurts, she is playful as can be, so what do you do?  Should I spend the money at the vet to find out she is just fine?  We did switch dog foods on her 2 weeks ago, and this could be from that.  Do I switch her back to her old food and see how that pans out?  I just don’t know.

So that is where I am at right now.  Worrying about my baby girl. *Sigh*

Peace Out,

Kittie

Think Positive!

Why do some parents or grandparents think it’s okay to smash a child’s dreams?  Okay. . maybe that is a bit harsh, but that sure was how it looked.

When a child says they want to be a lawyer when they grow up, the response should not be “You will never afford College!” “Law school is alot of work and you aren’t good at hard work!” “You won’t make it as a lawyer!”  Things like this apply to all dreams of a child and SHOULD NEVER, EVER, be said to a child.

I firmly believe what my parents and grandparents always told me.  They said I could be whatever I wanted.  They never told me I couldn’t do it.  Even if I did fail at something, they never laughed at me or harassed me for it.  They gave me encouragement to try again, or to try something new.  This is what today’s children need!  Encourage them to be whatever they want.  If you work hard enough, you really can accomplish anything!  You just have to have the want and the drive!

And for all those parents out there, who have grown children, and the choose to be negative about how their grown children’s lives have turned out, KNOCK IT OFF!  It’s not helping.  No matter how many mean and negative things you say to them, or even worse, to their other family members, they aren’t going to magically change because you want them to.  They have to do it for themselves.  Instead of constantly belittling them, encourage them also!  Reinforce the good and positive things they do.

Anyway, just a small rant for this morning.  I have to get ready for work now.

Peace Out,

Kittie

Ryan’s Drawing

Originally uploaded by jandjhatch

Yesterday I was cleaning out some boxes in my basement, trying to get stuff ready for a Garage Sale.  I found a lot of really cool things I had forgotten were down there.  One of the things I found was this picture.

Ryan Coulston drew this picture.  He was my best friend in high school who passed away at the age of 16 from cancer.  He always used to draw cartoon characters.  I was actually pretty surprised when I found this because it was in a folder full of old school papers.  Normally when he gave me drawings or notes they were all folded up, and many of them are in pencil and you can barely make them out anymore.  So I was pretty excited when I found this one.

In one of the boxes of Jamie’s stuff we found the newspaper article that I wrote for the High school paper.  It was just after Ryan died, they let me write an article for Ryan.  I couldn’t find the copy I thought I had kept, so I was glad that Jamie had one.

We also found a lot of pictures of Jamie from when he was a kid.  The nineties were not nice to him hehe.  It was really fun to look at those pictures and get a glimpse of his childhood.  We found some funny pictures of his mom and dad too!  I think I might have to scan them into my computer and email them to his mom.  I am sure she would get a kick out of it.

I still have a few more boxes to go threw.  I don’t know what other neat stuff I will find.  I just hope don’t get to distracted!  I did fill 3 boxes for the garage sale though!  Anyway, I better get ready for work!

Peace Out,

Kittie

Dr. Canine

I probably shouldn’t use his real name, for fear he might try and sue me.  So for this rant we will call him Dr. Canine.  He is the worst dentist ever!  Back in December of 07, I had a tooth that was just killing me.  It was so bad it was keeping me up at night and I tried every Internet remedy I could find to try and make it through the weekend.  Monday morning I went into see Dr. Canine.  He said I needed a root canal, gave me a prescription for Motrin 800mg, set me up for an appointment on January 3rd, and sent me on my way.  Mind you, this was on December 5th.

So I take the Motrin, still no relief, I still don’t get any sleep and I am in excruciating pain, to the point of crying every few minutes.  Tuesday morning, I called over to the Dentist across the street from our deli, Dr. Beatty (yes I can use his real name because he is awesome!).  They told me to come over and he would check it out.  Dr. Beatty informed me that I had an abscess tooth, and that is why I had so much pain.  He said I needed to be on antibiotics and he gave me vicodin for the pain.  He couldn’t believe that Dr.  Canine didn’t give me any antibiotics.  So I got prescribed the new medicine and Dr. Beatty told me to call the other office and tell them to get me in sooner then Jan 3rd, and that if they couldn’t he would refer me to another dentist to help fix my problem.

Well I called Dr. Canine’s office and they moved my appointment to Dec 7th.  ALOT  sooner then January!  He drilled out my tooth told me I had to come back on the Jan 3rd appointment to have my tooth finished.  I was in pain until then.  After he finished up on Jan 3rd, I refused to ever go back to him.

Dr. Beatty is now my current dentist.  Yesterday I went in to have a filling replaced that Dr. Canine had just done about a year before.  It has hurt ever since he “fixed” it.  And whenever I would tell him, he would claim it was fine.  Well when Dr. Beatty drilled it out, he saw that the filling was actually touching an exposed nerve!  That is why it hurt so bad for so long!

How can any dentist do that to a patient.  You wonder why people are scared of the dentist, it’s because of dentists like Dr. Canine.  I always left in pain, and it always lasted for weeks afterwards.  I mean I know the dentist isn’t completely pain free, but this was horrible!  His office is so busy because he has taken on to many patients, that he no longer cares about people.  He just wants to get in, drill, get out, and go.  That’s it!  He never talked with me about anything.  He never explained what he was doing.  It was always a scary experience.

I am so glad I switched to Dr. Beatty.  He explains everything, stops the moment he thinks your in pain, tells you what he is doing as he does it, and he cares.  So anyway, Thanks for everything Dr. Beatty.  You are definitely helping me to get over my fear of the dentist.

Peace Out,

Kittie

HD TV for Free!

Yeah, I know this is a silly post about nothing, but I am really talkative and felt like typing something.  So before the Red Wings game started tonight, Jamie decided to unplug our cable from our digital box, and plug is directly into the TV.  We then did the channel scanning, and low and behold, it found over 65 digital channels.  So we are currently watching the Red Wings play in HD!!  And it’s just amazing how much more I like my TV now!  We get most of the broadcast channels in HD, and a few other channels, but we don’t get as many as we would if we had an HD box.  Also, since we aren’t plugged into our Digital box, we can’t use our on demand.  But I think being able to watch Hockey, and Nascar in HD (and not having to pay for the HD box), makes up for not being able to use on Demand.

It never really made sense to me how they can charge you more for HD anyway.  It seems silly.  Anyway, there is less then 4 minutes left in the game.  We are ahead 3 – 1, so I am gonna finish watching the game now. I sure hope we win!

Pay Attention!!

With summer upon us, I just want to say one thing, PAY ATTENTION!!  There are LOTS of people walking, jogging, and biking and you have to be aware of them when you are driving!  I was biking with Shelby yesterday and three times, yes THREE times, we almost got hit by a car, or ran into the side of one who didn’t see us.

I always try to be extra careful when biking with the dog.  I never assume that even though I am a pedestrian, that I always have the right of way.  There are so many times that people don’t even look!  And its even worse when they see you, make eye contact, and STILL pull out in front of you!

PAY ATTENTION!  Hang up your damn cell phone and DRIVE.  I can’t imagine what I would do if one of my dogs, or myself got hurt while out walking or biking.  Listen up people, the weather is getting nicer, people are coming out of hibernation and heading back outside.  Please, pay attention, and be aware of your surroundings.

Peace Out, Kittie
